Grok Bot vs Claude

Last updated · By The Grok Bot Guide, an unofficial, independent site

Short answer: pick Grok Bot when you want always-on AI teammates that live in your apps, run routines from schedules or events, have their own email, and work as a team. Pick Claude when your work ends as a document, analysis or code you shape with it, using Cowork or Claude Code. Plenty of people use both.

TL;DR
  • Grok Bot: a team of persistent Bots on a shared cloud computer, with routines, email and Pages.
  • Claude: Anthropic's assistant, with Cowork for cloud tasks and scheduling, and Claude Code for coding.
  • Both can browse, use connectors and run scheduled work.
  • Unverified cells are marked "not confirmed". No prices or benchmarks invented.

What each one is

Grok Bot

SpaceXAI's app for persistent AI teammates. Each Bot has a name, job and memory, and all your Bots share a persistent cloud computer with a browser, filesystem and terminal (Cursor docs). Our plain-English explainer: what is Grok Bot.

Claude

Anthropic's AI assistant, available on the web, desktop and mobile. The parts that overlap most with Grok Bot are:

  • Claude Cowork, Anthropic's agent for knowledge work. Its tasks can run in the cloud and keep going when you close your laptop, it can use connectors, skills and plugins, coordinate sub-agents, act in a browser, and run scheduled tasks (Claude Help Center).
  • Claude Code, Anthropic's coding agent for the terminal, IDEs, web, Slack and mobile, which asks permission before changing files or running commands (anthropic.com).

Chat and Cowork are now one Claude on web, desktop and mobile: a conversation starts as a chat and continues in a cloud environment when a task needs code or files. Pro and Max got this in September, and Enterprise on 23 October 2026 (Claude).

We cover Grok Bot daily. We are not affiliated with SpaceXAI or Anthropic.

Where Grok Bot is the better fit

Where Claude is the better fit

  • Deliverables built from your files: Cowork can read and write local files on desktop and produce spreadsheets, decks and documents (Help Center).
  • Hands-on coding in your own repo and terminal with Claude Code (anthropic.com).
  • You already pay for Claude and want scheduled briefings and reports without another subscription (scheduled tasks).

In Austin Marchese's 12-task test, Claude won tasks where the output had to be right first time, such as reports, proposals and sales copy, and Grok Bot won fast, low-stakes handoffs like inbox triage and online errands (YouTube). That is one creator's test, not a benchmark.

Using both together

The cleanest split we found in sources: let Claude help you write or build the thing, and let a Bot run it and follow up every day. Grok Bot's own docs say it supports the same MCP servers and skills as Cursor (Grok Bot 101), so instructions written as skills can often move across. We haven't verified a direct Grok Bot to Claude connector, so treat any handoff as copy and paste or shared files.

Getting started or switching

  1. List three recurring jobs. Mark each "I want to do it with help" (Claude) or "I want it handed off" (Grok Bot).
  2. Pick one handoff job and do it by hand with a Bot first (Do it by hand, save a skill, then schedule).
  3. Move your best prompts across as skills; describe outcomes, not tool calls (Write the outcome, not the recipe).
  4. Connect apps before using the browser (Connectors before the browser).
  5. Keep approvals on for anything you can't undo (Vault and approvals).

The key differences, explained

1. A team of Bots vs one assistant with agents

Grok Bot is organised around named Bots. Each has a job, its own memory and its own chats, and they can message each other or share a group chat, so you can build a small team with a coordinator and specialists (Grok Bot 101). Claude is one assistant you work with across chat, Cowork and Claude Code. Cowork can break a big task into sub-agents and group work into Projects with their own files and instructions (Help Center), but the official pages we read don't describe separate named agents that talk to each other the way Bots do.

2. Where the work runs

All of your Bots share one persistent cloud computer with a browser, files and terminal. Sessions you sign in to stay signed in, which is what makes daily web jobs work, and also why every Bot can reach every login (docs). Cowork sessions in the cloud keep running when you step away, and on desktop Claude can read and write your local files without uploads (Help Center). If your raw material is a folder of files on your laptop, that is a real convenience.

3. How work starts on its own

Grok Bot routines start from a schedule or an event: a Slack message, a GitHub event, an email to the Bot, a webhook, and more. Cowork scheduled tasks run hourly, daily, weekly, on weekdays or on demand, in the cloud, with your connectors and plugins (Help Center). For "every Monday at 9am" both work. For "whenever a new lead emails in", Grok Bot has the documented trigger.

4. Identity in the outside world

A Bot can claim its own email address, sign up for services and send from it, with sends waiting as drafts unless you turn that off (changelog v0.70.2, changelog). Bots can also pay with Link, X Money or Shop Pay after you approve. We didn't find an equivalent in Claude's official docs, which mostly act through the accounts you connect.

5. Output

Bots return finished work in your tools, plus Pages that they can keep updated (How Pages stay up to date (and what they cannot do)). Claude produces documents, spreadsheets with working formulas, presentations and Artifacts, and lets you edit drafts in place (Help Center).

Questions to ask before you choose

  1. Do I want help doing the work, or do I want it handed off? Shaping a document together and delegating a standing job are different needs.
  2. Where does the work live? If it lives in web tools with no clean connector, a persistent signed-in computer matters. If it lives in files and documents, file access matters more.
  3. Does it need to start on its own? A schedule is enough for briefings. A reaction to a new email, Slack message or webhook needs event triggers.
  4. One agent or several? One generalist is simpler. Several specialists keep instructions short and make mistakes easier to trace.
  5. What can it never do without me? Decide this first, then check the approval settings of whichever tool you try.
  6. What do I already pay for? Trying the tool included in a plan you have is the cheapest experiment.
  7. Where do I live? Both products roll out by region and plan, so check availability on the official pages before you commit.

Run the same small, real job in both for a week and compare how much of your time each one saved after review. That will tell you more than any table, including ours.

A fair one-week test

Pick a job you already do every week, such as a Monday summary of your inbox or a price check on things you buy. Write the outcome in one paragraph: what finished looks like, where the inputs are, and what the agent must not do. Give the same paragraph to both tools on day one. Each day, note how long you spent checking and fixing the result, and whether it asked before anything risky. By day five you will know which one you trust with that job. Keep the winner for that job only, and repeat the test before you hand over the next one.

Our verdict (a judgement call)

Pick by the shape of the work, not by "which AI is smarter". If you want an agent that lives in your tools around the clock and works as a team, start with Grok Bot. If your work ends as a document, a deck or code you are actively shaping, Claude is the natural first stop. Many people will reasonably use both. Frequently asked questions

Is Grok Bot better than Claude?

Neither is better for everything. Grok Bot is built around always-on Bots with their own computer, routines and email. Claude is strongest when you are shaping documents, analysis or code together with it.

Is Grok Bot the same kind of product as Claude?

Not exactly. Claude is an AI assistant with agent features (Cowork, Claude Code). Grok Bot is an app only for persistent AI teammates.

Does Claude run tasks while my computer is off?

Yes for Cowork cloud sessions and scheduled tasks, according to the Claude Help Center.

Does Claude have its own email address like Grok Bot?

We could not confirm that in Anthropic's official docs as of 1 November 2026.

Which is better for coding?

Claude Code is a dedicated coding agent. Grok Bot hands coding to Cursor cloud agents and reports back (Watch coding work live and get recordings back). Choose by whether you want to code alongside it or delegate.

Can I use Grok Bot and Claude together?

Yes, as separate tools. A common split is Claude to draft or build, Grok Bot to run and follow up. We didn't find an official link between them.

How much do they cost?

We don't list prices because they change. See Claude pricing and x.ai/bot.

Which is easier for beginners?

Both start with a chat. Grok Bot setup is a message and it asks for access as needed; start with Make your first task boring.

Is this comparison official?

No. It is an independent comparison from official docs, checked on 1 November 2026.
