Use your 1Password with Grok Bot

Beginner, 5 minutes

Connect 1Password, approve each login in the 1Password app, and it fills the sign-in without the Bot seeing the password.

How this helps you

Your Bot can sign in with logins you choose to share, without the password being pasted into chat.

✦ Try it
Sign in to [website] using my 1Password login for it. Ask me to approve it in 1Password, and don't ask me to type or paste the password into chat. Tell me which login you used once you are in.

Fill in: [website]: one site you have saved in 1Password, for example your accounting tool.

What they did

Official from @bot and @1Password: at a sign-in you approve, 1Password fills in the login and the Bot never sees the password. Since changelog 0.77.0 it connects without a shared vault: you approve each login in 1Password, which fills it into the Bot's browser (needs Grok Bot 0.68.0 or later). The changelog also says that on Windows and Linux the Bot notices an installed 1Password app and can offer to connect it, and that Bots try your saved Vault logins first, then a password manager. @1Password says the integration is free and optional on personal and family accounts, and agents can't touch your vault unless you opt in.

Who it's for: 1Password users who don't want to save passwords twice.

How to try it

  1. Update Grok Bot (0.68.0 or later; the no-shared-vault flow arrived in 0.77.0).
  2. Connect 1Password from Connect apps, or say yes when the Bot offers to connect your installed 1Password app (Windows and Linux, per the changelog).
  3. Ask the Bot to sign in to one site you use. It checks your Grok Bot Vault first, then asks 1Password.
  4. Approve that login in 1Password. It fills the sign-in in the Bot's browser; the password never appears in chat.
  5. If no saved login exists anywhere, the Bot asks you with a Secure Form instead.
  6. Use Take over for two-factor steps the Bot can't complete.

What to expect

A 1Password approval request appears; after you approve, the Bot reports it is signed in and names the login it used, with no password in the chat.

Worth knowingPer @1Password the integration is free and optional for personal and family accounts. Sign-in order per the help page: Vault first, then a connected password manager such as 1Password, then a Secure Form. Earlier versions were Mac first; the 0.77.0 changelog adds Windows and Linux app detection.

Vault: logins, cards and contact info

Your Bot never sees saved passwords or card numbers. One catch with saved cards.

How this helps you You save logins and cards once and the Bot uses them without seeing the secret itself.

Roll out Grok Bot to a team with admin guardrails

From the official admin video: set team rules, auto-review, plugin and network allow lists, then start with a pilot group before inviting everyone.

How this helps you Your team gets Bots with sensible guardrails in place, not cleaned up after a mistake.
