How this helps you
You can ask about any video, post or article on your phone with one button press.
Look at what's on my screen and tell me [what you want to know], in three short points. If it's a product or a claim, check it on the web and give me the link you used.
Fill in: [what you want to know] is your question, such as "what's the recipe" or "is this claim true".
What they did
@everestchris6 built Action Button Bot, a free and open-source iPhone shortcut. You hold the Action Button on any reel, video, post or article, ask a question out loud, and your Bot answers. His examples: ask about the video you're watching, tell it to build what you saw in a reel for your business, or ask it to break down an article. The template page says the answer arrives as a silent notification, built from a screenshot, the post, its comments and a web search. He says it's fully customisable, so you can switch it to talk back to you while you scroll.
Who it's for: iPhone users who want answers about what they're looking at without copying and pasting.
Before you start
- An iPhone with an Action Button (iPhone 15 Pro or newer)
- The Grok Bot app installed and opened once
How to try it
- Open the Action Button Bot template page from his post and tap Add to Grok Bot. It's a third-party template, so read what it can do first.
- Install or update the Grok Bot app and open it once.
- In iPhone Settings, open Action Button, choose Shortcut and pick the Action Button Bot shortcut (we haven't verified this step).
- Open a video, post or article, hold the Action Button and ask your question out loud.
- Read the answer in the notification. If you want spoken answers, ask your Bot to change the shortcut to talk back.
What to expect
Holding the button on a cooking reel and asking for the recipe as a shopping list, which arrives as a notification.
Common mistakes
- Using it on screens with private details, since a screenshot is sent to your Bot.
- Expecting it on older iPhones without an Action Button.
- Adding the template without reading that it may act on your behalf.
