How this helps you
Knowing which tool fits stops you spending Bot usage on jobs a simple scheduled Automation can do.
Here is a list of my recurring jobs: [list]. For each one, tell me whether it only needs public information on a schedule (a fit for a Grok Automation) or needs logins, files, clicking through a site or many steps (a fit for a Grok Bot routine), and why. Put it in a table.
Fill in: [list]: one job per line, e.g. morning news brief, weekly supplier portal export.
What they did
@gjmount explains a split that saves usage for SuperGrok users. Automations let you describe a job once, give it a schedule or an email trigger, and Grok runs it later as a fresh chat. Scheduled Automations are available to everyone; email triggers need SuperGrok. He found no published cap on saved Automations; what gets metered is the normal weekly usage pool when one runs. His rule: work based on public information (a news scan, a competitor watch, a morning brief, finding X posts on a topic) can usually be an Automation. Save Grok Bot for work that needs a computer: logging into a portal, clicking through a UI, working with files, or a multi-step job that keeps going while your laptop is closed.

How to try it
- List your recurring jobs.
- Mark each one: is it a recurring question, or a recurring 'log in and do the thing'?
- Make questions into Grok Automations (schedule or email trigger).
- Give the 'log in and do it' jobs to a Grok Bot.
- Check that a guide you follow is written for the product you are in.
What to expect
A daily briefing runs as an Automation, while a Bot handles a weekly portal export.
Common mistakes
- Spending Bot usage on a daily briefing that an Automation could do.
- Following an Automations guide inside Grok Bot, or the reverse.
