How this helps you
Your Bots understand how you work from day one instead of after weeks of corrections.
Summarise what you now know about me after the memory import: how I like to work, my writing style, my standing instructions and my main projects. Flag anything that looks out of date or that conflicts with the rules in your description.
Fill in: No placeholders. Run it in any Bot's chat after the import.
What they did
@XFreeze walked through the Import Memory option that arrived with the 0.77.0 update. It brings over your memories, preferences, instructions, writing style and important context from another AI assistant, so you don't explain yourself again. The steps: open Grok Bot Settings and choose Import Memory, copy the prompt it gives you into your other assistant, copy that assistant's response, paste it into Grok Bot, and select Add to Memory.
Who it's for: Anyone switching from another AI assistant, or using both.
Before you start
- Grok Bot updated to 0.77.0 or later.
- An account with another AI assistant that has been learning about you.
How to try it
- Open Grok Bot Settings and choose Import Memory.
- Copy the prompt shown there.
- Paste it into your other assistant and run it.
- Read the response before you copy it. Delete anything you'd rather Grok Bot didn't keep.
- Paste it into Grok Bot and select Add to Memory. Then ask your Bot what it now knows (prompt below).
What to expect
A short profile in plain sentences, plus a list of two or three items that look stale (an old job, a finished project) for you to confirm or remove.
Common mistakes
- Pasting without reading. The export can include private details you don't need a Bot to know.
- Assuming memory beats the description. Lasting rules for a Bot still belong in its description.
- Importing once and forgetting it. Ask the follow-up prompt so stale facts don't steer future work.
Related tips
- Keep lasting rules in the description, not memory: Duplicate a Bot and the description comes along; memory starts empty.
- Make an executive assistant your first Bot: Charlie Chang's beginner setup: one general helper Bot first, told plainly what it owns, before any specialists.
- Week of 20 Oct: email aliases, tag @bot, voice-call memory: Email aliases, tag @bot on X, voice-call memory, Android assistant, faster computer.
- Package your whole Bot setup into one zip you can rebuild from: One prompt makes your Bot bundle your preferences, memory, skills, routines and instructions into a zip with a README, without any passwords or keys.
